I couldn't find Pat Boone's original of "Stairway to Heaven", musta been disappeared by the Ledstapo.

See also Dylan, who borrowed copiously from (for instance) Red Sails in the Sunset (Beyond the Horizon), The Parting Glass (Restless Farewell), The Patriot Game (With God on Our Side), Down on Penny's Farm (Hard Times in New York; and arguably sorta kinda Maggie's Farm), Titanic (Tempest) ... the first & last were out of copyright, the last two probably acceptably traditional too, but the second and third were pretty questionable, in that he nicked both melody and theme. And yet (a) Liam Clancy just laughed; and (b) I'd argue Dylan improved both. It eeez a puzzlement.
